About the Book
Driftwood is the story of Rini and Rajiv. It is about their love and loss, their struggle and success. It follows their journey from a slum in India to the Himalayan foothills, trekking the high paths in the land of the gods to the world of show business and high finances of property developers. It is about their meeting, parting, and shaping of their future.
About the Author
This book is a work of fiction based on my experience and imagination. My childhood was spent in Ranchi. I went to St. Xavier's School and later to the college of the same name. After passing MBBS from Armed Forces Medical College, I spent six years in the Army, some of it in Kashmir, and later with a parachute regiment. I spent six months in the Border Roads, and was impressed with the dedication and hardship of its workforce. I was in Project Deepak, in the Garhwals. Later I moved to the United Kingdom to pursue surgical training, and at present working as a general surgeon in the NHS. I have a MBA from University of Central Lancashire. My wife, Soma is also a doctor, and my son Avishek wishes to pursue a career in music.
