About the Book
'Nuances' is the assimilation of the essence of life as the author knows it, ever since she started penning poetry at the age of thirteen. Life as a medical student, an intern, a wife, a mother, a surgeon, an infertility specialist as well as the day to day events around her have shaped her thoughts in this collection of poems which bring out the subtle nuances that colour the world around us. From the blossoming of a girl into a woman in 'Spring' to the loneliness of reaching the pinnacle of 'Success', the sibling rivalry in 'Envy' to the secret world of a fetus in 'Cocoon', she brings out different emotions with a depth and clarity that is at once surprising and grounded in reality. The anxiety of an infertile woman is very simply but effectively summed up in 'Hope in a test tube'. 'Tsunami' and 'Meerut 2006' bring to life real-life disasters. As does 'Kedarnath - the Deluge' which traces one couple's pilgrimage that completely changes their lives in a matter of hours. Finally, 'Death of a wish' is the heart rending ode to every girl child and the author's contribution to the fight against female foeticide.
