After acquiring a honors degree in literature ,the author has worked with visual media for more 12 years as program producer and has been contributing to literature for more than a decade .Having published more than thirty literary masterpiece “Spear of hope” is yet another . First story : A tale of a young Indian women and her struggle. Hails from a modest family she gets married to NRI based in Australia through a matrimony site. What attracted her to the man was his qualification and job. Soon her world falls apart as she learns the man in her life is a fraud, but she is pregnant by now. Amidst the mental turmoil she returns India and tries to lead life on her own. Sweta wants divorce. But she knows it might create occasion for her husband to devastate life of many other innocent souls like her. Shweta and her struggle to get back her life together. Second story: “ Sailing down a dead river “ Based on the life of a theatre actress, who once draped the limelight. With the advent of television and E media theatre lost its charm. As the art went sick ,artist went jobless. Once who were adored and desired are now unwanted. The stage, glory and heyday has vanished. The era of dying theater. The protagonist of the story Pravash Manjari, once reined the stage by virtue of her looks and talent. Today she has lost it all, age, glory and stage. Leading life in solitude. She loved a much young man .The love remained unrequited as he loved and married another woman. The story speaks of the actress’s sorrows, sufferings and isolation. Third story: “ Dawn to Dust “ : After wrapping a concert abroad a musical band was on its way home, but the plane crashed in middle of the desert. Majority of the flyers died and those survived are striving for life. In the midst of a vast desert few have lost their way and died and rest are struggling for survival. Only two of them have managed to sustain their life through all odds, but now they have also given up hopes. In the very next moment rescue team traces them. All the three short stories have been told in a story telling etiquette. Unwanted jargon and complexity has been avoided to keep it simple and touching. This will make the collection even more admirable and loved among readers.

Hope has no bound – like a river. Sometimes the river is lost in search of the ocean and sometimes merged into the salt water. Entities breathing within this ray of hope are sweta ,rupa and prabhas manjari.They are the leading lady of three diverse tale . Sweta , who dreamt of marital bliss is married to a man, who jolted her life into bottomless pit. And Rupa – victim of a plane crash is in the trap of death – and there seems no route to escape. Prabhas Manjari – yester year leading lady. Once celebrated and revered , in her autumn of life is alone and solitary. The story “ Spears of Hope “ is about the dreams, hope and aspirations of these three women. They were dreaming of a beautiful dawn .But destiny had different plans for them. Pain ,sufferings and agony has made life claustrophobic. This novel is built with an Indian backdrop. Story about women’s struggle. Grief, regret & way of life of Indian women is explicitly depicted in the stories that will accord readers an inexperienced dimension.

Sankar Prasad Tripathy is a name to reckon with, in the cultural circle of Odisha, the eastern province of India. He has written numerous plays and novels in Odiya, the regional language of the province, spoken by more than forty million people and has been active in the regional cultural circle for more than three decades. Acknowledging his contribution to films, television, radio and theatre, the Odisha Government has feted him with ‘Rajya Sahitya Academy Award’—a prestigious state level award for literary achievement.
