Dreams!! Oh dark dreams, unpleasant visions, Despite to angels of peace and fairies of dreams my bountiful commissions I close my eyes and darkness spreads I sleep with lights on still dreams are dark in my head. To open my eyes I have tried, times a million But all my dreams happen in a dark pavilion And out of fear I run till my feet tire And finally I dream myself into a waking gyre. Dizzying darkness, so deep, so wide, so high effects a vertigo And even my gyre of light becomes a black hole. I’ve tried sleeping with a torch, a candle, a matchstick, nothing is of use. Today I’ve planned against the darkness a brilliant ruse. I’ll sleep with colors in hand And in the dark canvas I’ll paint my art, With psychedelic colors I will paint my own dream And splash in colors to make darkness scream,

About the Author
Twenty-two year old Gayathri Jayakumar lives in a village near Kayamkulam, Kerala, India. She is currently doing her Post Graduation in MSM College, Kayamkulam under the University of Kerala. She is an authorized Skill Development Executive under the Gov. of Kerala and also a noted member of the Human Rights Protection Mission, an NGO. A self-taught artist and poet from small ages; she earns as a ghost writer and website- content writer. Her works were published in, Harvests of New Millennium (Volume 7 Number 1, 2014), The TAJ MAHAL REVIEW VOL. 13 NUMBER 1 JUNE 2014 and Annapurna Magazine June 2014.
