Vulnerable young adults
Sleep paralysis is more common in young adults. Spiritual interpretations explain the occurrence of sleep paralysis in young adults in terms of negative give-and-take account with a ghost or ancestor in the subtle regions of the Nether world or Hell (Paataal). Moreover higher levels of worldly desires make the young adults prone to be a victim of sleep paralysis because ghosts having predominant worldly desires fulfill their own by possessing the body of such individuals. On the other hand the elderly people who have less of such desires and they are more likely to have a completed give and take account with then world have less chances of suffering from sleep paralysis.
Sleepingbposition
While talking about sleeping position it would be significant to mention about Kundalini which is a spiritual energy flowing to the various systems and organs of the body and is vital to their functioning. While lying on the either side one of the two main channels of the Kundalini is active. However in the supine position both the channels flow a much reduced amount of energy and hence the Kundalini is least active in supine position which results in reduced or immobilized motor system of the sufferer. This is the reason why most cases of sleep paralysis report the attack to occur while sleeping in the supine position.
Theory and practice of religion, spirituality on Delinquency
Many theoretical arguments answer the question of involvement of religiosity and spirituality as beneficial in eradication of criminality from society. A criminologist, in the classic theory of social control states that delinquent acts are a result of an individual’s weak and broken bond to society (Hrischi, 2002). Religious institutions instills normative beliefs, spirituality and foster commitment and involvement of an individual towards the society (Hrischi, 2002). Social
Learning Theory accounts that a person is less prone to delinquent behavior if exposed to pro-social behavior mechanisms (Morgan, Cox, & Matthews, 2007). Arousal Theory with a socio-biological perspective connects criminal behavior to physical or neural arousal. It is for the adrenaline rush that a delinquent behavior is initiated. Spiritual healing through religion satisfies that need of stimulation, excitement and lessens the chances of engagement in criminal behavior (Baier, Colin, Bradely, & Wright, 2001).
DÉJÀ VU: FLEETING FEELING OF FAMILIARITY
Déjà vu is a widespread, fascinating, and the mysterious human experience. For over a century, the phenomenon of déjà vu has attracted much interest, and in recent times, researchers in various scientific fields (Sno & Linszen, 1990; Brown, 2004) have studied it. Whereas research on the déja vu experience has a long history reaching back into the mid-1800s, it has struggled for serious consideration by the scientific community. The word déjà vu, meaning, “already seen,” was coined first by the French psychiatrist Emile Boirac. Déjà vu experiences, defined as subjectively inappropriate impressions of familiarity of the present with an undefined past (Neppe, 1983a), are observed in 70% to 80% of the nonclinical general population (Adachi et al., 2003). Déjà vu is thus a common experience, with a majority of the population having experienced it at least once in their lifetime (Brown, 2003).
The concept of conscious dreaming is widely accepted in both Eastern and Western cultures.Tracing back, over the centuries, personal records of philosophers, artists and authors have talked about the concept of self-awareness in dreams. For example, the French philosopher Rene Descartes found his lucid dreams so vivid, he concluded that our waking senses are illusory and not to be trusted. Tibetan Buddhist monks have integrated heightened self-awareness and dream control in their path to enlightenment. Ancient Indian Saints, Yogis in India, practice yogic sleep .i.e. a state of deep sleep wherein the meditative state one remains in the waking state of consciousness, gently focusing on the mind, allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to come and go, Also known as Yoga Nidra - Lucid sleeping. It is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness and the practices of which generate lucid dreaming and hence, leads to easily confusion of the two separate experiences of its kind.
The present piece of work is an effort and attempt to understand the frameworks of the experience of two states having relatively differences in the degree on the dimensions of the consciousness Flanagan (1991) and hence, it is imperative that for understanding the frameworks of the experience of lucid dreaming, we need to understand the psychological approach that takes an information processing view of lucid dreaming while other sees lucidity in sleep as a cognitive tool while still few others emphasis more on self-awareness.
Reiki (pronounced Ray – Key)
The living body, human or animal, radiates warmth and bioenergy. This energy is the life force itself, and has as many names as there are human civilizations. Reiki, also known as ‘Ki’ or ‘Chi’, is an electrical field of energy that flows through the body, and determines the state of health. When ‘Ki’ or ‘Chi’ departs the living organism, life has departed (Stein, 1995).
The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct. When experiencing pain, the first thing most people do is put their hands on it. When a child falls and scrapes the knee, the mother instantly touches it (or at times kisses it) and makes it feel better. A mother’s instinct when a child is feverish or ill directs her to place her hands on the child’s forehead. Human touch conveys warmth, serenity, and healing. It also conveys caring and loving. The same goes for animals. Instead of their hands they use their tongues. This simple act is the basis for all touch healing techniques (Stein, 1995).
Reiki is an ancient Japanese art of healing. In the 1800’s Reiki was re-discovered by Mikao Usui as he sought the healing methods used by Buddha and Christ. Today, reiki is widely used in western european and eastern countries.
