About the Author
Dr Sandhya Singh is the convenor for the Hindi and Tamil language programmes at the Centre for Language Studies, National University of Singapore (NUS). She has been part of the Hindi programme at NUS since its inception. She received her doctorate in Hindi from Banaras Hindu University, India. Her interest in pursuing Hindi started early with a teaching career spanning over 18 years. She developed the curriculum of Hindi at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and NPS International School, Singapore. She started the first Hindi magazine in Singapore; Singapore Sangam and serves as the Editor-in-chief. Her research interests lie in the field of the Indian diaspora, and Hindi and Bhojpuri in South East Asia. Sadhana Pathak has been teaching Hindi as a foreign language in National University of Singapore (NUS) since 2009. She received a Bachelor of Science from Nagpur University, India and a Master of Arts in Hindi Literature from Indira Gandhi Open University, India. Prior to joining NUS, she taught Hindi to Primary and Secondary school children in Singapore. Before starting her teaching career, she worked as a translator and newscaster for All India Radio. She has keen interest in Indian classical music and she is a trained classical singer.
