About the Book
An anthology of four Singapore poets, each articulating felt emotions and ideas in his/her own distinctive voice. Take for example, Roslina’s opening lines in her poem “Knock Knock Who’s There”: Risotto, fish, and greens / Framing anticipation, barely contained. It’s an evocative invitation that arouses both carnal and emotional imageries, whilst also, in rhythm, a lively and lovely invitation. An altogether difficult to resist teasing of both the mouth-watering sorts, and more. Likewise, if we look at the opening of Sanjay’s “I Am A Poem”: from birth to this age / the love within defines me / preceding any verbiage. The stage is set. it’s Love as a subject which we are here invited to contemplate. Dinesh’s “Ponderations” invite us to an altogether different world: have I the time / to sit and think / and wonder at the world? My own poem “Random Bukit Timah” opens this way: Walking along your long corridors / I watch people go about their chores / as I go about mine. It is my great privilege and honour to present this exciting work to you, the reader, not only to embrace its warmth but also to cherish its making together with the birth pangs that accompany all such entries into the wider world. Enjoy!
