How wonderful it would be! -Lolita Jude
If our knowledge about the Bollywood stars was tested in History,
And Tom and Jerry’s volatile reactions was taught in Chemistry,
Neither of these subjects would seem a mystery,
Exams on such a syllabus would be elementary.
If study time was to observe the trees on the playground,
I would not rest till I knew every tree around,
And what if Mathematics was taught in a mall?
For shopping and Calculus do go hand in hand after all.
If all the grown ups became children for a day,
I’m sure they would kick up a fuss to get their own way,
I’d like to see the expression on their faces when
I call out in a stern voice, “You will study your lessons again & again.”
How wonderful it would be,
If our syllabus included a shopping spree,
I’d make a beeline for the section of fairy tales,
Why hesitate when the English language is up for sale?
Hollywood & Bollywood here we come,
Knowledge unchained - you too can surely try some,
Freedom to study at your own pace,
Choose whatever you wish, you can run your own race.
We must let our imagination run wild,
I earnestly appeal to each and every child,
Break free from the burden of what you have to do,
Treat every task as fun and say, “Sure I’d love to.”
The trick of the trade is to grin and bear,
You’ll get nowhere if you rant and swear,
If you cannot beat them it’s best you join them,
Study you must even if you haw and hem.
I’m going to close my eyes and pray,
Wish for all these things every day,
I’ll tell my friends to do the same,
For want of trying, we’ll be the ones’ to blame.
Nothing is impossible I tell you my friends,
Dreams and reality do go hand in hand in the end,
Learning can be fun, strike the right balance and you’ll see,
Everything’s a piece of cake, how wonderful that would be!
