There was a surreal picturesque quality about Johnson’s Hill, a beautiful green towering peak in Black Forest Estate, it loomed large over the estate 1900 ft high, carpeted with tea bushes, and was called Johnson Pottai in the Tamil language, ‘Pottai’ meant a hill in Tamil. It was named after the legendary planter Cecil Johnson of the Bostock group who had planted tea on this high hill in the year 1902, the only means of getting up this hill was by a funicular trolley which ran on steep rail tracks hauled uphill by a winch from the top of the hill reaching down to the tea factory.

About the Book
The author takes the readers to the verdant hills and valleys of Kerala, called God’s own country, where the tea and rubber planters toil from dawn to dusk, in rain or sunshine, to grow tea and rubber.
About the Author
The author has worked in the erstwhile British owned Tea Rubber estates in South India during the 70's for a decade, and saw the transition to Indian management. The author therafter worked in an International airline for 21 years, and has traveled throughout the world. The author now lives in Hyderabad, India, has three children, a married daughter who lives in UK, and two sons who live with him.
