Preachers in the modern world select bits and pieces from their scriptures and change the real meaning to reinterpret them in a way to make them fit into modern scientific perceptions. You need to take a whole paragraph and link the meaning of one sentence to the next and so on, also by relating to evidences in nature that exist in our time and move in a step by step manner. It is only then that one can clearly understand what exactly the writer wants to convey by those sentences. A single sentence can be reinterpreted in many different ways which may not be appropriate to understand what exactly the writer means by those sentences. When I looked into most of the religious scriptures to understand the beginning of the universe, it seemed as if our ancestors gave names to bodies in nature which was perceptible to our natural senses. Beyond this they filled their huge gap of ignorance with one word called 'God' or 'Spirit' and concluded that their knowledge and wisdom was complete.
