The book is a humble attempt of a less known author and contains thirty one Hindi and twenty English poems on the various shades of love. A person who does not love himself cannot give love to others. Love is a supreme feeling that can raise a man’s higher consciousness and he is ready to face the music of life. The filial love is incomparable. Love, care and concern of a mother for her child cannot be compared. In the poem ‘A Mother’s Love for Her New Born’ the poet has tried to express the feelings of a mother when she holds her new born in her arms. She looks at the child and is jubilant and elated. The child is an embodiment of completeness and fulfillment. Giving, forgiving, caring, being generous, gentle, kind, tender and calm are all the attributes of love.
The poem ‘Give, Give and Give’ gives a message to follow the foot prints of Almighty God who is always a giver. Giving or sharing makes life beautiful and no sacrifice seems huge in the path of love. When you are filled with this beautiful emotion you want to spread it in the whole world. In the poem ‘Spread Love, Love and Love’ the poet reminds the man, who was sent as a messenger of love and has forgotten his real purpose of life in this materialistic world to awaken, arise and spread love.
‘A Prayer for my mother’ exhibits the intense emotions of an individual sitting by the side of her terminally ill mother and fervently praying to God. In fact all virtues like sympathy, empathy, clemency, kindness, forgiveness, compassion, mercy, pity, benevolence, generosity, charity, forgiveness, amnesty, absolution and reprieve are the by-products of the basic need of every individual known by the name of a wonderful emotion called love. When this magnificent feeling overwhelms an individual he wants to see peace, joy and happiness all around and when he notices the human beings suffer in misery, gloom and exploitation his cry to call God and redeem the world can be seen in ‘O, Almighty Lord! When Will You Come? And then in response to his distressed call God comes and redeems the troubled humanity from all the stress and strain. ‘Here comes the Lord!!! depicts the Lord as a fearless knight clad in a shining armor with a saber in his hand comes to give the message of hope, faith and courage to the suffering humanity and relieves them from their pain. Again in ‘O, God Hold My Hand’ he wants omnipotent Almighty to hold his hand through thick and thin and asks for assurance and reassurance to be always with him as His very presence is soothing and comforting. At the moment of death also he sees the shining face of God that comforts and consoles him when he is leaving this world. God’s love is a source of joy and bliss.
The theme in almost all the Hindi poems revolves around the love between the lover and the beloved and they exhibit passionate lover’s keen desire to meet his beloved., She is so much in his heart and on his mind that while he is awake he sees dreams in the open eyes and when he is asleep he sees her in her dreams. He always and always wants to live in her company as it is a bliss to be with her. This passionate cry can also be the keen fervent cry of a seeker for his master or the fanatical ardent cry of the soul separated from his creator to be united with the Almighty, the all pervading force. The imprisoned confined soul cries keenly to go back to its creator and eagerly awaits the angel who will take her to her beloved, the source.
The ardent lover feels that the coming of the beloved in his life has given meaning to his life and has made life worth living In the poem ’Your Emergence in My Life’ the passionate lover compares his beloved to the fresh current of air and the shining ray of Sun. This ‘Your’ is your very own__ may be your child, friend, lover, spouse or someone else.
A lover appreciates everything in his beloved. Once a man falls in love he wants to be always with his beloved, and asks again and again when will she come and is ever ready to welcome her. Physical beauty is no criterion for love. In the poem “The First Meeting” it is shown how an ugly looking girl turns out to be a loving, caring wife and makes his life a heaven on this earth. On the whole the poet has tried to identify different ways and shades of love but one thing that cannot be challenged is that love is the be all and end all of all human existence and it is the highest virtue that can be accomplished.
