In a world characterized by shoestring poverty, racial divide, crime and extreme violence, what does an education mean to children? The author embarks on a journey to fight the almost intractable realities of the children of a deeply-deprived community, facing insurmountable difficulties and emotional losses, to ultimately find the meaning of education and service to those most needy of it.
About the Author
Shambo Dey graduated from La Martiniere, Calcutta and went on to earn an engineering degree. In 2011, he took up a teaching job in a government school in Pune, Maharashtra, as an agent of change to address the problem of educational inequity in slum communities. Currently, he reads law at the Government Law College, Mumbai. Based on his experiences as a teacher, this is his first book.
