ERP Implementation Life Cycle includes the following phases: 1. Planning 2. Requirements Analysis 3. Design 4. Detailed Design 5. Implementation 6. Maintenance and Continuous improvement. 1. Planning: In this phase a business need assignment is conducted based on the business needs of the existing and the proposed system, a business justification is done using interview technique and cost justification. 2. Requirements analysis: Selection of an ERP system is done by using the best practices and modules to see what the company can gain by implementing the new system. 3. Design: In the design phase business process re-engineering is applied by using the ERP methodology’s best practices or customized version of the software. 4. Detailed design: A detailed design is selected by using interactive prototyping and by choosing standard inputs, processes and outputs (For example customer lists, vendor lists) 5. Implementation: In this phase of Configuration, data is migrated from the old system to the new system and interfaces are developed. There is an implementation in which the vendors correct the “bugs or errors” and then by using the clean processes and data develop interfaces. Reporting tools are also used in this phase. Reporting systems, tests controls, and security is implemented and end-users are trained. 6. Maintenance phase: In this phase of the ERP Life cycle technical support is provided to the staff and users. Upgrades and enhancements are added to the existing modules.
