Resurrected

The novel “Resurrected” is a fiction story which has been made out of many true events related to people of different walks of life. When Afrin Metilda is 40 years, her husband meets with a car accident. The chances of his survival are bleak. Afrin goes to the hospital to meet him and there her husband tells her about a diary which he had maintained since his college days and kept it as a secret. The first page of the diary had the following words inscribed, “The mistake of loving somebody else by assuming them as someone else”. She is able to locate the Diary and reading through it, the flashback of her teenage days start appearing in front of her eyes. “Afrin Metilda is a beautiful, tall, slim and smart teenage girl who takes her life very seriously. She is rarely found laughing or hanging out with her friends. In spite of being a reserved person, she falls in love with her dance instructor- cum-classmate - Sam Smith. She tries her best to win his heart but Sam doesn’t reciprocate her feelings as he had already been betrayed in the past by his first love Elicia Mercury. But later on, Sam accepts Afrin on the advice of a friend. They get married and start living a happy life. Afrin is expecting her first child but unfortunately something tragic happens in their lives. Sam gets trapped in their residential building which collapses due to an earthquake. Afrin becomes unconscious on witnessing her husband being badly injured due to the mishap. She is hospitalised and her health starts deteriorating. Finally in these circumstances, she gives birth to a daughter whom they name as Rose, who is born with a physical disability- both her legs are paralysed. Sam, despite of being in equal pain himself, helps Afrin to gradually come out of her state of depression. Slowly and steadily, she overcomes the guilt of holding herself responsible for her carelessness at the stage of pregnancy. The love and support from her husband brings her life back on track. Everything in her married life starts going smoothly.” When she reads further, Afrin is shocked to know about the truth that her husband had already expired ten years ago after being trapped in the building during the earthquake. The man whom she is treating as her husband Sam is not him but someone else who exactly resembles him. On reading further, Afrin realises that she had loved some other man by assuming him to be her husband. It was that diary which helped her to unravel this mystery and discover many other concealed truths of life.
