About the Book
The book contains thirty-four poems with various themes. It mainly focuses on various global issues like water scarcity, poverty, male chauvinism, environmental issues, and oppressed groups. It talks about Indian issues like casteism, exploitation, love, donation of organs, river-linking project issues, animal killing, female infanticide, etc.
About the Author
Dr. Amutha Mariasingam is an Assistant Professor of English in St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous),Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, India. She completed her Ph. D in Comparative Literature. Her mentor Dr. Padma Srinivasan, Senior Professor (Retd.), Department of English and Comparative Literature, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai moulded her career and inspired her to write poems as her doctoral research was on poetry. When her poem “Pierced my Heart” was selected as one of the best poems in an International Conference which was then titled “Loneliness”, it encouraged her to publish a collection of poems including the same poem and titling the collection with the same. She has published a score of research articles and presented papers in various international and national conferences. “The Tiger’s Cry” is her second collection focusing on Global and Indian issues.
