About the Author

Alena was born in USSR. She hails from Kolchugino, a small town in Vladimir region of Russia. She came to India in 2000 after marrying Manoj an Indian doctor and is now living in Thrissur, Kerala. They have a 17- year old son Milen. She completed her higher medical education in Russia. Although she selected medical profession, she loved painting, sketching, knit work, embroidery and figure modeling from childhood. In her school years, she had received various prizes in painting competitions. After her arrival in India, she began painting again, first as a hobby, and then seriously. She has experimented with different paints on mediums like paper, canvas, walls, glass, wood and textiles. She then concentrated on works with acrylic paint on textile, which required exceptional skills. Working with acrylic paint requires absolute perfection, skill, high quality materials, mediums and fine instruments, as even a minor flaw becomes irreparable. The techniques which she mostly self-taught and thus developing her own style. She has conducted solo and group exhibitions in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram. This is her first venture in creating an adult coloring book. She has used traditional and digital media for its completion. Alena gets her inspiration while traveling, observing the nature, culture and people. Her works remains in the hands of private collectors from different parts of world including USA, UAE, Russia, UK, Germany, Australia and India.
