Rise and Fall of the Cosmic Civilizations

A group of high schoolers in Toronto were living out their ordinary lives when a top secret organisation recruits them. Unclear of what they have got themselves into, they start fiddling with the deceptively advanced technology at their disposal. A few encounters in the months that follow prove to be inadequate for them to determine who is after them and why. With time, they gradually realise how far back in time the story of this unconventional form of genetic engineering actually goes. That’s when they stumble upon an old underground archaeological site and meet Rancer, a dazed individual who claims to be from another age, another world. As they encounter more mysterious events, they get introduced to the Antaracians – a parallel race of humans who live permanently underground and are blissfully unaware of all other ‘Extraracian’ people living above. Turns out, Rancer was from that very community, and the place where his mummified body was found turned out to be one of the earliest Antaracian sites. The technology these teenagers are involved with has its roots deep into a small group of Antaracians who have access to the people living above. Together with them, these teenagers manage to trace their encounters back to extraterrestials who are determined to obtain the technology from them. As the story proceeds, various more secrets unfold regarding the Antaracians’ ancient homeworld, their arrival to Earth, their discovery of ruins of lost super-civilizations, and the one alien race behind the destruction of several intelligent species across the universe… One and half centuries later, remains of an extinct alien species are discovered on an asteroid near the outer edge of the solar system, the texts describing something terrible that had resurfaced lately. Yet another alien species lands on Earth as refugees, and only a small lineage of people know about the clandestine events that had happened before. In a world that has just recovered from a worldwide depression, Carl and Sum team up with various Antaracian nations at war, the Antaracian organisation Vaeglt, and a score of intelligent alien species to plan an attack against the destroyer of them all…
