About the Book

The Chinese language is one of the richest languages in the world; it includes many words that are similar in meaning but different in usage. This type of information is not often found in dictionaries or in most textbooks. For almost every existing idea, there is a special and exact Chinese word to express it. The Chinese language contains an enormous vocabulary, and the language student sometimes may not know which word is suitable to use in the different situations. This textbook, aimed at students who have progressed beyond the beginning level, offers a detailed level of understanding to those seeking a more in-depth and enriched study of the Chinese language. It provides lists of colloquial expressions, common sayings, idioms, and proverbs in Chinese, all designed to make you more at home with the living spoken language. With this guide, you can gain a better knowledge of Chinese and become a more fluent speaker. For intermediate and advanced students of Mandarin Chinese, this textbook features colloquial expressions and idioms intended to aid you in becoming a high-level Chinese speaker.
