About the Book
And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage); they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass. —The Noble Qur’an, Surah Al-Hajj 22:27 Allah the Almighty commanded Prophet Ibrahim, peace be unto him, to call people from all over the world for pilgrimage. In addition to the hajj, Muslims also perform umrah—a minor pilgrimage that can be performed any time of year to show submission to Allah the Almighty and symbolize the peace and blessings of Prophet Ibrahim, peace be unto him, and his family. As this pilgrimage involves physical activities and ritual recitations, there must be physical and spiritual preparations—which begin even before pilgrims leave their home countries to embark on their journeys. Handbook for Umrah provides a series of easy-to-read instructions, prayers, and recitations for assisting pilgrims with the preparations and rituals required for a successful umrah pilgrimage. Including Arabic and English translations of passages and requisite prayers, it explains how to understand and perform the pillars and obligations of the umrah, and it provides practical insight about how to prepare for travel and carry out the proper sequence of movements and actions for a valid umrah. The umrah is first about the sincere intention to perform umrah and assume a sacred state of ihram. This handbook will then help ensure that pilgrims know the rituals so they are able to find tranquility and peace as they face Allah the Almighty in worship.
