In the long history of human development, literature has become one of the important flagships of human spiritual civilization because of its uniqueness, inheritance and innovation. World literature has a long history: from the prosperity of Greek, Roman and Oriental literature in ancient time to the present-day flourishing of the literature of all peoples, East and West. Novels, poems and prose are all important classic genres in the field of literature. Among them, modern poetry has been popular among readers since the contemporary era because it is simple, catchy and filled with literary and aesthetic qualities. This collection of modern poems named “A Solitary Journey” offers readers a sumptuous literary feast with its harmonious rhythms, sincere expressions, sincere emotions and beautiful text. We hope that it can entertain the readers and provide them with the literary experience and feeling of “a long-lasting flavour lingering on the minds and hearts” while reading it.
About the Author
Murong Xiuyu, with pen name Dugu Yulan and Xiaoyu, and document name Liu Junxiang, is from Lan zhou, Gansu Province, China. She has two Master’s degrees in musicology. One master’s degree was obtained from the College of Music of Northwest Nationalities University in China, and the other from the Queensland Conservatorium of Griffith University in Australia. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD degree in music composition in Europe. After graduating from university, she taught for several years in public educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the Lanzhou government. During this period, she has published three poems and two papers in domestic provincial journals. In the past three years, she has successively published four academic papers in international journals. In 2022, the poetry collection Selected Poems of Dugu Yulan was selected for the collection of Famous Chinese and Foreign Modern Poets series edited by Professor Fu Tianhong and was published by Hong Kong Galaxy Publishing House and distributed simultaneously in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. In April 2023, she was one of the award-winning poets at the 8th Mexico International Poetry Festival. From September 2023 to April 2024, her music monograph and the poetry collection The Transition Color were grandly published by the American Scientific Research Publishing and the American Academic Press respectively. During this period, another lyric poem was selected for the Selected Works of Oriental Literature published by the Chinese Solidarity Press.
